We ventured out in to the Perth Hills again this trip, despite the skies being full of smoke from an inland bushfire. Tracing similar footsteps we took when we went camel riding in Kalamunda National Park back in June.
This time though we jumped off the Roe Highway before Kalamunda and headed across to Pickering Brook for a really rather nice lunch at The CORE Cider House.

Having crazed there and sampled the fine ciders, we ventured slightly further down the road to a vineyard we’d seen earlier that day.
Quaintly named “Due Jolly” (Italian for ‘two jokers’), we were met at the Cellar Door by one of the owners. He made us a rather nice coffee after we’d chatted for a while and had a chance to sample some of their exquisite wines. It’s not often we walk away from vineyards in Australia with a white wine in the car boot but their 2008 Chardonnay had a unique bouquet that ‘forced’ us to buy a bottle 🙂 We did of course take a red with us too. Who can resist an Aussie red…
